Position Overview:

The Superintendent will report directly to the General Superintendent and will be responsible for managing milling and paving projects. This role primarily involves overseeing interstate projects typically executed during nighttime hours. Key responsibilities include supervising field personnel, ordering necessary materials, managing subcontractors, and collaborating with customers and sales teams to ensure project completion aligns with our commitment to quality, safety, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engagement: Actively participate in supporting Senior Management by gathering comprehensive project information from Management and Sales Personnel. Attend necessary pre-construction meetings.
  2. Site Preparation: Conduct thorough assessments of work sites prior to mobilization to ensure readiness.
  3. Resource Coordination: Determine staffing and equipment needs specific to each project and coordinate with Dispatch accordingly.
  4. Material Management: Order construction materials such as liquid calcium chloride, Portland cement, and liquid asphalt, while tracking quantities to ensure compliance with budgeted amounts.
  5. Task Assignment: Clearly define daily tasks for field employees and oversee their progress.
  6. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Control personnel to ensure all work meets specified standards.
  7. Safety Leadership: Conduct safety meetings with field staff and promote a culture of safety in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  8. Client Interaction: Engage with representatives and inspectors from client organizations to ensure satisfactory project execution.
  9. Time Management: Review employee time sheets for accuracy and ensure all projects are completed within budget constraints.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction.
  2. Extensive knowledge of construction operations and specifications.
  3. Ability to interpret plans and specifications effectively.
  4. Strong leadership capabilities.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  8. Thorough understanding of job costing.
  9. Capacity to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  11. Basic proficiency in PC applications, including email and spreadsheets.
