Position Overview:

The Superintendent will report directly to the General Superintendent and will be responsible for managing milling and paving projects. This role primarily involves overseeing interstate projects typically executed during nighttime hours. Key responsibilities include supervising field personnel, ordering necessary materials, managing subcontractors, and collaborating with customers and sales teams to ensure projects are completed in alignment with our commitment to quality, production, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engagement and Respect: Actively participate in initiatives that support senior management. Gather comprehensive project details from management and sales personnel. Attend necessary pre-construction meetings.
  2. Thorough Preparation: Conduct detailed site assessments prior to mobilization to ensure readiness.
  3. Staffing Coordination: Determine specific staffing and equipment needs for each project and coordinate with dispatch accordingly.
  4. Material Management: Order construction materials (such as liquid calcium chloride, Portland cement, liquid asphalt, etc.) and monitor quantities to ensure compliance with budgeted amounts.
  5. Task Assignment: Clearly define daily responsibilities for field employees and oversee their progress.
  6. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Control personnel as necessary to ensure that work meets established specifications.
  7. Safety Leadership: Conduct safety meetings with field staff. Promote a culture of safety and adhere to all relevant OSHA and company safety standards.
  8. Client Engagement: Interact with customer representatives and inspectors to deliver projects that meet mutual satisfaction. Our clientele includes municipal public works departments, state DOTs, general contractors, housing developers, and homeowners' associations.
  9. Time Management: Review employee time sheets for accuracy and completeness.
  10. Budget Compliance: Ensure all projects are completed within established budgetary constraints.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction.
  2. Extensive understanding of construction operations and specifications.
  3. Ability to interpret plans and specifications effectively.
  4. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  5. Strong attention to detail.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
