At the State of Idaho, our team members play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our community. The Accounts Payable Unit is in search of a motivated and collaborative Financial Technician. This role encompasses a range of para-professional financial responsibilities, including the development and maintenance of records, documents, reports, and financial data; reviewing financial documents and records; executing entry-level accounting, bookkeeping, or auditing tasks; and performing related duties.

Remote work options may be available following successful completion of the probationary period.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile intricate financial documents.
  • Process and record vendor invoices and payments using various accounts payable systems.
  • Conduct reconciliations of daily financial activities and balance journal entries prior to posting.
  • Review, complete, and process financial documents to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and policies for approval.
  • Acquire knowledge of the organization's programs and financial requirements to prepare, reconcile, and balance financial transactions.
  • Strong proficiency in using computer systems to develop and maintain records, documents, and financial data is essential.
  • Accurately categorize transactions within a variety of financial transaction systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify for this position, you must meet all the minimum qualifications outlined below. Ensure your resume or work history demonstrates your fulfillment of these requirements.   • Solid understanding of financial record-keeping methods, typically acquired through completion of two college accounting courses and at least one year of relevant experience OR completion of one college accounting course and at least two years of work experience OR a minimum of three years of work experience OR a bachelor's degree in accounting OR a bachelor's degree in business with at least 20 semester credits in accounting.
  • Experience in researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports, as well as utilizing personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data. This is typically gained through completion of at least two computer courses focused on electronic spreadsheets/accounting software OR at least one year of work experience using this software.
Preferred experience is not mandatory but may provide an advantage over other applicants:
  • Experience with MS Excel. Typically acquired through related coursework or one year of working with MS Excel as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with the State of Idaho LUMA, FISCAL, or STARS systems. Typically gained through experience in an Idaho State financial accounting or self-reliance role.
  • Experience independently applying policies, procedures, or regulations to assess compliance of financial transactions. Typically gained through coursework in accounting or one year of relevant work experience.
  • Experience creating formulas and utilizing built-in calculation functions for complex financial, statistical, or analytical calculations in Microsoft Excel. Typically gained through coursework or one year of work experience.
