Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to join our team at the Idaho State Supreme Court. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a full range of advanced professional, financial duties requiring the application of accounting and/or auditing theory, principles, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs professional level accounting and financial analysis duties;
  • Reconciles fund accounts and automated systems accounts;
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or evaluates complex financial documents and reports;
  • Administers grants, including budget preparation and monitoring, funding drawdown requests, and compliance requirements;
  • Communicates with court staff to respond to financial and accounting inquiries;
  • Maintains and monitors fixed asset inventory;
  • Assists in the collection of data for accrual adjustments;
  • Reviews court expenditures for adherence to policies and guidelines;
  • Develops and maintains internal controls to ensure proper segregation of accounting functions;
  • Performs cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analysis;
  • Utilizes accounting software, automated systems, and databases to complete work, record, store, and track information;
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves complex accounting problems;
  • Prepares complex financial documents, plans, and reviews financial operations;
  • Designs, modifies, and implements financial-related systems or plays a significant role in their development;
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures for financial reporting systems and conducts research into the financial needs of the agency;
  • Analyzes technical financial problems and provides professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions;
  • Reviews financial data for completeness and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field;
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in finance, accounting, or a related field; three years preferred;
  • Previous governmental experience preferred but not required;
  • Knowledge of accounting generally accepted accounting practices;
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting;
  • Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance requirements;
  • Knowledge of accounting software and MS Office software;
  • Familiarity with Idaho Luma accounting and reporting system;
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and assistance to customers;
  • Ability to express ideas and communicate suggestions and recommendations clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time well;
  • Ability to organize work to meet multiple deadlines and achieve desired work results.
