Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to join our team at the Idaho State Supreme Court. As a key member of our Finance and Operations Division, you will be responsible for performing advanced professional financial duties, including accounting and financial analysis, reconciliations, and grant administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform professional level accounting and financial analysis duties, including reconciliations of fund accounts and automated systems accounts.
  • Prepare, review, and/or evaluate complex financial documents and reports.
  • Perform grant administration functions, such as budget preparation and monitoring, preparation of funding drawdown requests, and tracking and recording of grant expenditures.
  • Communicate with court staff to respond to questions and problems related to financial and accounting activities.
  • Maintain and monitor fixed asset inventory.
  • Assist in the collection of data necessary to determine and record accrual adjustments.
  • Review court expenditures for adherence to applicable policies and governing guidelines.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a system of internal controls to ensure proper segregation of accounting functions.
  • Perform cost effectiveness and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Use accounting software, automated systems, and databases to complete work, record, store, and track information.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve sensitive and complex accounting problems.
  • Prepare complex financial documents, plans, and reviews financial operations, and handle difficult or sensitive financial matters.
  • Design, modify, and implement financial-related systems or play a significant role in their development.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures for financial reporting systems and conduct research into the financial needs of the agency.
  • Analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions.
  • Review financial data for completeness and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in finance, accounting, or a related field; three years preferred.
  • Previous governmental experience preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of accounting generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting.
  • Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance requirements.
  • Knowledge of accounting software as well as MS Office software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Idaho Luma accounting and reporting system.
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and assistance to customers.
  • Ability to express ideas and communicate suggestions and recommendations clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time well.
  • Ability to organize work to meet multiple deadlines and achieve desired work results.
