JOB SUMMARY

The selected candidate will participate in our upcoming sales training program. Sales Territory: Petoskey, MI / Charlevoix, MI / Harbor Springs, MI

Candidates must reside within the designated sales territory.


This role involves outside sales responsibilities, focusing on promoting the company's offerings and fostering relationships with both new and existing clients. The primary goal is to assist Sysco customers in achieving success while meeting the sales and profit objectives set by the organization. This position may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, nurture existing accounts, and reduce customer attrition to drive profitable sales growth.
  • Prospect and qualify potential clients in alignment with company account strategies.
  • Analyze customer requirements and curate a tailored mix of products and services.
  • Monitor market trends and recommend products to clients based on their business objectives.
  • Stay informed about market dynamics, product innovations, and competitor offerings; share insights with clients as part of value-added services.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and usage.
  • Provide product information and practical training to client personnel.
  • Utilize personal vehicle for client visits, industry events, and company meetings.
  • Manage accounts receivable as necessary, collaborating with the credit department to ensure timely collections.
  • Coordinate deliveries according to the transportation department's routing schedule; troubleshoot any issues that arise during the order process.
  • Engage in company events, promotions, client visits, and industry gatherings.
  • Participate in general sales and district meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing training and development sessions.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members as needed.
  • Review and analyze sales reports, special-order requests, and profit margin data.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including preparing sales budgets, maintaining records, processing credits, and filing reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience in Restaurant Management, B2B sales, or outside sales, or equivalent experience including completion of the Sysco Sales Internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Bi-Lingual

Experience in Restaurant Management, Foodservice Outside Sales, or Culinary roles is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (including no multiple DUIs within the last 2 years).

Current automobile insurance with specified liability limits is required.


Requirement

  • Submit to pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check).
  • Must sign Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement.
  • Reside or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the territory.
