JOB SUMMARY

The selected candidate will participate in our upcoming sales training program. Sales Territory: Petoskey, MI / Charlevoix, MI / Harbor Springs, MI

Candidates must reside within the designated sales territory.


This role is focused on outside sales, promoting the company's offerings and fostering relationships with both new and existing clients. The primary goal is to assist Sysco customers in achieving success while meeting the sales and profit objectives set by the organization. This position may involve working non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) to effectively meet customer needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new business, deepen existing client relationships, and reduce lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within the assigned territory.
  • Identify and qualify prospects in alignment with company account stratification goals.
  • Analyze customer business requirements and develop a tailored mix of products and services to meet those needs.
  • Monitor market trends and recommend products to clients based on their business goals.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings; share insights with clients as part of value-added services.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and usage.
  • Provide product information and practical training to client personnel.
  • Utilize personal vehicle for client visits, conventions, and company meetings.
  • Manage accounts receivable as necessary, collaborating with the credit department and clients; ensure collection of all balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Oversee deliveries according to the routing schedule established by the transportation department; resolve any issues that arise during the order process.
  • Engage in company events, promotions, customer visits, and customer gatherings.
  • Participate in general sales and district meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing training sessions.
  • Assist in the training of new employees as needed.
  • Review and analyze daily and weekly reports, including special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits, and filing reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of Restaurant Management, B2B, or outside sales experience, or equivalent relevant experience including completion of the Sysco Sales Internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Bi-Lingual

Experience in Restaurant Management, Foodservice Outside Sales, or as a Chef is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (including no multiple DUIs within the last 2 years).

Current automobile insurance with specified liability limits is required.


Requirements

  • Reside or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the territory.
