Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for processing the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment for the Arkansas Government Job. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Authorizes payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
  • Works closely with vendors to obtain and develop desired products.
  • Negotiates prices, discount terms, and transportation arrangements for merchandise.
  • Examines, selects, orders, and purchases merchandise at most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors.
  • Maintains agency purchasing card for making small purchases when advantageous to do so.
  • Maintains agency travel card for making agency travel purchases.
  • Creates desk reference to be placed on SharePoint.
  • Provides shared services to Division of Services for the Blind.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus five years of experience in merchandising or a related field, including one year in purchasing.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
