Position Overview:

The Financial Aid Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the precise allocation of various financial assistance programs, including federal, state, and institutional funds.

Essential Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree preferred.

2. Familiarity with financial aid software such as EdConnect and EdExpress.

Work Schedule: Full-Time / 40 hours per week / Monday to Friday / 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (occasional evening events) / Hybrid model (one day remote per week during classes; two days remote during breaks).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide guidance and support to students regarding the financial aid process and their awards.

2. Develop and implement policies to ensure efficient service delivery while adhering to compliance standards.

3. Oversee the coordination of Pell Grants and Direct Student Loans, liaising with the Department of Education and students.

4. Manage federal campus-based aid programs.

5. Coordinate the annual filing of necessary reports, including FISAP and Nursing Student Loan Annual Operating Report.

6. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.

7. Supervise audits, compliance assessments, and account reconciliations.

8. Collaborate with the Bursar to ensure accurate financial aid disbursement and student billing.

9. Advise students on Satisfactory Academic Progress criteria.

10. Evaluate special circumstances and professional judgment cases.

11. Conduct Return of Title IV calculations.

12. Oversee the federal and college work-study programs.

13. Create and update financial aid publications.

14. Work with other departments to design and implement enrollment and retention initiatives.

15. Provide counsel on academic decisions affecting financial aid and student accounts.
