Position Overview:

The Financial Aid Specialist plays a crucial role in the precise administration of various financial aid programs, including federal, state, and institutional funds.

Essential Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s degree is required.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is necessary.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. A Master’s degree is preferred.

2. Familiarity with EdConnect and EdExpress software is advantageous.

Work Schedule: This is a Full-Time position, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional evening events may be required. The role offers a Hybrid work arrangement, with one day of remote work per week during class sessions and two days during school breaks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide guidance and support to students regarding the financial aid process and their awards.

2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and compliant service delivery to students.

3. Oversee the processing of Pell Grants and Direct Student Loans, coordinating with the U.S. Department of Education and students.

4. Manage federal campus-based aid programs effectively.

5. Coordinate the annual filing of the FISAP and other required reports.

6. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of federal and state regulations related to financial aid.

7. Supervise audits, compliance reviews, and financial reconciliations.

8. Collaborate closely with the Bursar to ensure accurate financial aid disbursement and student billing.

9. Advise students on Satisfactory Academic Progress criteria.

10. Assess and evaluate special circumstances and professional judgment cases.

11. Execute Return of Title IV calculations as necessary.

12. Oversee the coordination of the federal and college work-study programs.

13. Create and update financial aid publications.

14. Work with other departments to develop and implement enrollment and retention initiatives.

15. Provide counsel on the implications of dropping, adding, or failing courses as they relate to financial aid and student accounts.
