Position Overview

The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) plays a crucial role in assisting adults with developmental disabilities. The CES is responsible for organizing and leading daily activities that encourage community involvement, cultural appreciation, and connection to resources that align with participants' personal aspirations. Activities may include cultural outings, educational excursions, volunteer work, and recreational events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and supervise groups of up to 5 participants during community activities.
  • Address the basic needs of participants in various settings, including medication management and assistance with daily living tasks.
  • Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavioral strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each participant's ISP and specific requirements to ensure effective support.
  • Develop monthly budgets for outings and manage financial documentation for accountability.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including daily progress reports, in a timely manner.
  • Utilize agency vehicles or public transport to facilitate community access for individuals.
  • Provide basic first aid as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and a clean driving record.

  • Medium: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
