Position Overview

The Student Services division serves as the primary liaison connecting academic and administrative functions at Tufts University, catering to the needs of the School of Arts and Sciences as well as the School of Engineering. This department offers extensive support, including guidance on tuition payments, financial aid applications, transcript requests, and class registrations. By utilizing a service center model, Student Services effectively supports various student-facing departments as needed. Collaboration with students, families, faculty, staff, and external organizations is essential to provide accurate information and facilitate university transactions related to their areas of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

The Student Services Representative acts as the initial point of contact for the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and the Bursar, serving the Schools of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, as well as University College and financial services for the Fletcher School. The representative will undertake the following tasks:
  • Offer assistance to other student-facing offices and operations as necessary.
  • Deliver exceptional service through phone and email communications, aiding students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni in navigating various university and governmental policies and procedures.
  • Clarify and interpret university policies while addressing inquiries and resolving issues for students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate information, policies, and processes that comply with current practices.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in higher education or a related field, along with a High School diploma/GED.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Zoom.
  • Ability to learn the functionalities of Student Information Systems, Powerfaids, and Transact systems to ensure timely responses.
  • Familiarity with the University operational calendar and the flow of information regarding student records, biographical data, and university policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Capacity to exercise sound judgment and discretion when addressing sensitive matters.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, even amidst frequent interruptions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when interacting with diverse populations.
  • Willingness to acknowledge and rectify errors promptly and professionally.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college coursework and experience in an educational or higher education environment.
Work Schedule Requirements:
This role is hybrid, requiring on-campus presence at least two days each week.

Compensation

Minimum $22.10, Midpoint $26.30, Maximum $30.50.

Salary is determined based on relevant experience, expertise, and internal equity; typically, new hires can expect compensation between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
