Position Overview

The Student Services department serves as the initial point of contact, connecting academic and administrative functions within Tufts University, specifically for the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. This department offers a comprehensive range of assistance, including guidance on tuition payments, financial aid applications, transcript requests, and class registrations. Student Services collaborates effectively with various stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, and external agencies, to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely information while facilitating university transactions related to their areas of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

The Student Services Representative acts as the primary contact for the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and the Bursar for the Schools of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, as well as University College and financial services for the Fletcher School. The representative will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Offer support to other student-facing offices and operations as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional service through phone and email communications, assisting students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni in navigating various university and governmental policies and procedures.
  • Clarify and interpret university policies while addressing inquiries and resolving issues for students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain up-to-date information, policies, and procedures that comply with current practices.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in higher education or a related field, along with a High School diploma/GED.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Zoom applications.
  • Willingness to learn about Student Information Systems, Powerfaids, and Transact systems to ensure timely responses.
  • Familiarity with the university's operational calendar and information flow concerning student records, biographical data, and university policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when addressing sensitive matters.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple tasks effectively, even amidst frequent interruptions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in interactions with diverse populations.
  • Ability to acknowledge and rectify errors in a professional and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college coursework and experience in an educational or higher education environment.
Work Schedule Requirements:
This role is hybrid, requiring on-campus presence at least two days per week.

Compensation

Minimum salary of $22.10, midpoint of $26.30, and maximum of $30.50.

Salary is determined based on relevant experience, expertise, and internal equity; typically, new hires can expect compensation between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
