Position Summary:

The Facilities Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all facets of facility and shop management. This role includes the procurement, maintenance, and repair of all tools utilized by the Natural Resources Department, as well as providing structured training for qualified team members. Responsibilities encompass safety oversight, inspections, and repairs of facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage routine maintenance and operations of facilities.
  • Coordinate inspections and liaise with external service providers for ongoing maintenance and projects.
  • Facilitate repairs and perform light maintenance on vehicles.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all hand and power tools.
  • Organize tool storage and parking areas efficiently.
  • Maintain inventory and tracking of tool maintenance records.
  • Procure shop supplies and new tools as needed.
  • Train and certify team members in tool usage.
  • Provide orientation for new team members regarding tools.
  • Support Natural Resources Crew Supervisors as needed.
  • Supervise team members on construction and natural resource projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are essential:

  • A strong commitment to supporting young adults and environmental conservation.
  • Experience in supervising and training youth.
  • Ability to repair small engines.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tool safety and usage.
  • Highly organized and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to provide temporary coverage as a Natural Resources Crew Supervisor.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
  • Desire to thrive in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
  • Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within three months.
  • Clean driving record with the ability to pass driving assessments.

Education and Experience:

A combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities is required. Typical qualifications include:

  • Preferred two years of supervisory experience, particularly in youth development and project management.
  • Experience supervising youth from diverse backgrounds to foster teamwork.
  • Associate's degree or vocational training in natural resource management, mechanics, construction, or a related field.
  • Experience in community service and volunteering, demonstrating a strong service ethic.
  • Conversational Spanish skills are advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves outdoor work around equipment and machinery, requiring the ability to navigate uneven terrain and steep inclines. Candidates should be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 75 lbs and carrying items for distances of at least half a mile. Regular use of visual and auditory protective equipment is necessary. The role requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and using hands for various tasks.
