Overview:

  • The Program Manager is tasked with overseeing one or more established programs that cater to faculty, staff, or students.
  • This role acts as the primary contact and liaison for the department, addressing departmental challenges and resolving issues for students, faculty, staff, and postdoctoral researchers across multiple labs and divisions.
  • The individual will proactively identify the future requirements of the department and labs, including financial needs, staffing changes, and daily operational necessities to ensure seamless operations.
  • As the human resources liaison for departmental personnel, the Program Manager collaborates with relevant staff on policy interpretation, formulates policies and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency, negotiates with vendors and sponsors regarding agreements, and drafts necessary policy memos.
  • The role involves representing the program to the public, the university community, and stakeholders served by the program.
  • Ensuring that program objectives and service delivery goals are achieved is a key responsibility.
  • Tasks may include forecasting financial revenues and expenditures.
  • Creating and managing the program budget, reallocating resources as needed with minimal oversight.
  • Engaging with external suppliers, negotiating significant contracts on behalf of the program.
  • Establishing and implementing departmental systems, practices, policies, and procedures while fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and utilizing files, records, materials, and digital content related to the program.
  • A minimum of 3 years of program management experience in a large-scale, complex higher education or non-profit environment is required.
