Position Overview:

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Manager is responsible for fostering an environment where nursing staff and ancillary personnel deliver comprehensive care that prioritizes safety and enhances patient independence. This role requires a strong presence within the unit, collaborating with nursing staff, charge nurses, physicians, and departmental leaders to ensure clinical operations are both efficient and effective, while also achieving high levels of satisfaction among patients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a high-performing clinical team by recruiting and retaining skilled professionals. Establish a robust support system with designated charge nurses and unit champions.
  • Engage staff in formulating action plans for necessary changes to achieve safe and desired outcomes. Conduct regular evaluations of supervised personnel and provide coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Set and pursue objectives for patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to regulatory standards. Foster a culture of open communication and develop strategies to enhance satisfaction among patients, families, and physicians.
  • Conduct daily rounds with medical staff to coordinate appropriate patient care. Oversee personnel in executing patient care activities to ensure quality and adequacy of care.
  • Assess daily personnel needs within the unit and request additional staffing as necessary. Manage overtime assignments and maintain an accurate monthly staffing schedule.
  • Facilitate patient throughput through effective discharge planning and timely admissions/transfers. Collaborate with facility services to ensure departmental safety and operational readiness.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Five years of technical experience is preferred.
  • One year of leadership experience is preferred.
  • Two years of acute care nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA is preferred.
  • National specialty certification in the area of expertise or nursing administration is preferred.
