Job Overview:

In a supportive environment, this role involves executing a range of routine and semi-routine clerical tasks related to cashiering and assisting patients/customers with cash, credit, and collections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients, members, and visitors with a prompt, courteous, and professional demeanor.
  • Maintain an understanding of current health plan policies and coverage, ensuring awareness of changes; verify financial status and address delinquent accounts, providing necessary referrals.
  • Stay informed about cash handling and compliance policies; apply this knowledge to cashiering functions, ensuring safety and accountability of financial resources.
  • Process various charges for services, receiving payments through cash, checks, or credit cards, ensuring accuracy and valid authorizations.
  • Address and resolve customer service issues, escalating complex problems to supervisors as needed; operate computerized cashiering systems for transaction processing.
  • Record adjustments in the cashiering system according to guidelines, ensuring accurate reconciliation of financial documents.
  • Prepare and manage bank deposits, maintaining necessary supplies and resolving discrepancies.
  • Compile data for reports and statistics as required, utilizing current charge schedules for accurate billing.
  • Ensure all office and cash-related equipment is functioning properly, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Act as a resource for cashiers in various departments, clarifying policies and procedures.
  • Handle deposit bags from other departments, preparing them for secure pick-up.
  • Manage patient appointment processes, ensuring accurate data entry and insurance verification.
Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum of six months experience in a computerized cash collection environment.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Prior cashier experience in a financial setting.
  • Ability to balance cash drawers accurately.
  • Familiarity with office software applications.
  • Experience in appointment scheduling and knowledge of healthcare benefits.
