Position Overview:


The Lead Optomechanical Systems Engineer at PowerLight Technologies is instrumental in the design and enhancement of optomechanical systems integral to our advanced photonic and laser technologies.

In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to conceptualize, analyze, and refine optical and mechanical components, ensuring creativity, precision, and reliability in our offerings.


Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

Spearhead the design and development of optomechanical systems, including lens assemblies, mounting structures, and various optical and mechanical components.


Mechanical Simulation:

Employ CAD software and finite element analysis (FEA) tools to model and simulate mechanical component behavior, ensuring adherence to performance and reliability standards.


Tolerance Assessment:
Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses to guarantee optical components align within specified tolerances.

Material Selection:

Collaborate with engineering and assembly teams to choose suitable materials and manufacturing methods, balancing cost, quality, and performance.


Performance Testing:

Assist in planning and executing tests and experiments to validate the functionality of optomechanical systems, making necessary adjustments based on findings.


Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of designs, test outcomes, and engineering modifications. Generate documentation for fabrication and assembly processes.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including optical engineers, electrical engineers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration of optomechanical components into final products.


Continuous Enhancement:

Identify opportunities for improvement in existing designs and processes to boost product performance and efficiency.



Qualifications:
A Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in optomechanical design and development, with a solid understanding of optical design principles, software, and quality standards.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), FEA tools, and LightTools in both design and production contexts.

Strong knowledge of optical principles and components.

Familiarity with precision machining and manufacturing processes; experience with 3D printing is a plus.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
