Job Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer position is pivotal in achieving functional, business, and overarching corporate goals. In this capacity, you will utilize your expertise in Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) to assist GE Aviation's Common Core Systems team in defining and overseeing technical objectives across various aircraft platforms.


Role Responsibilities

This role entails leading, mentoring, and contributing to the systems engineering initiatives within GE's Common Core Systems. You will be accountable for specific systems engineering tasks associated with the IMA product line. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for IMA and Federated computing technologies.
  • Formulating and implementing systems development and verification strategies in alignment with GE Aviation protocols.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Business Leaders on new opportunities.
  • Creating architectural designs and conducting trade studies to meet customer specifications.
  • Facilitating cross-training for Systems Engineers in the systems engineering methodology.
  • Promoting and supporting engineering reuse within the Computing Systems product line.
  • Providing technical direction and support to project teams to ensure adherence to cost, quality, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Ensuring timely completion of systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and resolution of issues.
  • Assisting in the initiation of new projects to ensure they are well-structured according to the product roadmap and engineering process standards.
  • Leading interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, testing, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
  • Timely escalation of issues requiring additional engineering or business leadership support.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering – Electrical, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design & development or technical project leadership within an engineering product development context.
  • Background in Avionics Systems Engineering Process – ARP4754A, ARP4761, or equivalent.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory; sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this position.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons due to access to export-controlled technology.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B Environment.
  • Familiarity with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and/or DO-330 process assurance.
  • Prior experience with A653 partition-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of networking products or data concentrator systems.
  • Understanding of interfaces including but not limited to analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825.
  • Experience with engineering processes such as requirements definition, validation, verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, and system safety.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with senior leadership effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in the development, integration, validation, and verification of systems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and project management skills.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring three days on-site with the option for remote work on other days. Corporate relocation assistance is available.
