Job Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer position is crucial for achieving functional, business, and overarching corporate goals. In this capacity, you will utilize your expertise in Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) to assist GE Aviation's Common Core Systems team in establishing and managing technical objectives across various aircraft platforms.


Role Responsibilities

This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for IMA and Federated computing technologies.
  • Formulating and implementing systems development and verification strategies in line with GE Aviation protocols.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Business Leaders on new initiatives.
  • Creating architectural designs and conducting trade studies to meet customer specifications.
  • Facilitating cross-training for Systems Engineers in the systems engineering methodology.
  • Promoting and supporting engineering reuse within the Computing Systems product domain.
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership to project teams to ensure they meet cost, quality, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of systems requirements and integrated validation/verification activities.
  • Supporting the initiation of new projects to ensure alignment with the product roadmap and engineering process standards.
  • Leading interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, testing, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
  • Escalating issues requiring additional engineering or business leadership support promptly.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering – Electrical, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in design, development, and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development setting.
  • Background in Avionics Systems Engineering Processes – ARP4754A, ARP4761, or equivalent.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
  • This position is restricted to U.S. persons due to access to export-controlled technology.

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B Environment.
  • Familiarity with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and/or DO-330 process assurance.
  • Experience with A653 partition-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of networking products or data concentrator systems.
  • Understanding of various interfaces, including analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825.
  • Experience with engineering processes, including requirements definition, validation, verification, integration, and system safety.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with senior leadership effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in the development, integration, validation, and verification of systems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and project management capabilities.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model, with three days on-site and the option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Corporate relocation assistance is available.
