Job Overview
The Lead Systems Engineering Specialist plays a pivotal role in guiding a team through the comprehensive systems engineering lifecycle during the development of advanced Flight Data Recorders.

This position demands extensive expertise related to Flight Data Recorders, enabling the successful development of system architectures, requirements, interfaces, integration, and testing of sophisticated hardware/software for aviation systems while providing mentorship to junior team members.

Location and Work Environment
This opportunity is primarily based in a collaborative environment, with options for hybrid/remote work available 1-2 days a week when feasible.

Compensation and Benefits

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead systems engineering expertise throughout the entire development lifecycle, particularly focusing on embedded software and hardware.
  • Develop comprehensive systems architecture, requirements, design, verification, and validation, ensuring adherence to FAA regulatory standards such as DO-178C (level D).
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, overseeing the Systems Engineering scope for various development projects.
  • Maintain in-depth product knowledge and effectively communicate architectural technology and product positioning to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development teams to establish solution architectures and respond to requests for information/proposals.
  • Support sales initiatives through technical presentations, requirements definition, and architectural contributions for proposals.
  • Understand and articulate customer requirements, ensuring that developed solutions meet their needs.
  • Contribute to the creation of strategic roadmaps and engage with support groups for compliance and review.
  • Travel to project sites for integration, training, and startup services as required.
  • Document project details and maintain clear communication with support teams, management, and executives.
  • Address customer issues in alignment with company values and financial objectives.
  • Foster professional relationships within internal support organizations and target accounts.
  • Provide regular updates on ongoing and future projects, identifying potential sales opportunities for growth.

Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing system architectures for aviation systems, including military applications; OR Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Eligibility:
This role is restricted to U.S. persons due to access to export-controlled technology. Proof of status will be required prior to employment.

Essential Skills:
Strong communication abilities, both oral and written, along with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Proven capability to analyze and resolve complex problems effectively.

Desired Attributes:
A successful track record in project management and product development, familiarity with military interface and environmental standards, and the ability to conduct effective system design trade studies.

This role requires a self-driven individual with meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative approach, and a dedication to excellence in aviation system engineering.
