Job Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer position is crucial for achieving functional, business, and overarching corporate goals. In this capacity, you will utilize your Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) expertise to assist in the development and management of technical objectives across various aircraft platforms within GE Aviation.

Role Responsibilities

This role encompasses leading, guiding, and contributing to systems engineering initiatives within GE's Common Core Systems. You will hold accountability for specific systems engineering tasks related to the IMA product line, providing technical direction, mentorship, and support to project teams to ensure they meet cost, quality, schedule, and technical objectives.

Key Duties Include:
  • Overseeing the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for IMA and Federated computing technologies.
  • Formulating and executing systems development and verification strategies in alignment with GE Aviation protocols.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Business Leaders on new initiatives.
  • Creating architectural designs and conducting trade studies to fulfill customer specifications.
  • Training Systems Engineers in the systems engineering methodology.
  • Promoting and facilitating engineering reuse within the Computing Systems product line.
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership to project teams, including support for project planning, reviews, metrics development, and risk management.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of systems requirements and effective validation/verification processes.
  • Supporting the initiation of new projects to ensure alignment with product roadmaps and engineering standards.
  • Leading interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, testing, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
  • Escalating issues requiring additional engineering or business leadership intervention promptly.
  • Utilizing sound judgment to resolve moderately complex operational or engineering challenges.
  • Offering fresh perspectives on existing solutions and leveraging technical expertise for data analysis.
  • Acting as a resource for less experienced colleagues and potentially leading small projects with moderate risks.
  • Communicating complex information effectively and working towards consensus.
  • Developing persuasive skills to influence others in relevant fields.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering – Electrical, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in design, development, or technical project leadership within an engineering environment.
  • Background in Avionics Systems Engineering Processes such as ARP4754A or ARP4761.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
  • This position is limited to U.S. persons due to access to export-controlled technology.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B Environment.
  • Familiarity with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and/or DO-330 process assurance.
  • Experience with A653 partition-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of networking products or data concentrator systems.
  • Understanding of various interfaces including analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825.
  • Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, validation, verification, integration, and system safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Proven capability to lead teams in system development, integration, validation, and verification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and project leadership skills.
  • Competence in documenting, planning, and executing programs.
  • Established project management expertise.
Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence three days a week with the option for remote work on other days.
