This position focuses on medical billing within a physician's practice. A key responsibility is to ensure efficient and timely follow-up on overdue and denied accounts from third-party payers. This role is vital for securing revenue for services rendered by physicians at Albany Medical Center through appeals, phone communications, and thorough account reviews.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory; an Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in customer service is essential.
  • Prior experience in phone-based customer service is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is required.
  • Familiarity with payer websites is necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are crucial.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine charges and data for precision and address discrepancies related to CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes with insurance providers.
  • Validate and amend registration and insurance details, ensuring correct claim submissions.
  • Conduct research and interpret information to effectively reconcile accounts.
  • Review and comprehend payer policy guidelines concerning billing practices.
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures for accurate account evaluations.
  • Meet expected production and quality benchmarks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday during daytime hours.
