Role Summary:
As a Medical Biller, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of healthcare services provided to patients. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate billing and timely collection of payments for medical services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of various insurance plans.
- Prepare, submit, and manage both electronic and paper claims.
- Monitor aging reports to maintain up-to-date accounts.
- Engage with insurance portals and conduct follow-up calls to resolve outstanding balances.
- Analyze and address insurance denials to facilitate prompt reprocessing of claims.
- Provide patients with accurate information regarding their insurance balances.
- Process credit card payments from patients to ensure proper reconciliation of out-of-pocket expenses.
- Handle incoming inquiries from patients and insurance representatives.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service and medical billing.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective prioritization and time management skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Self-motivated while also being a collaborative team player.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in healthcare with an emphasis on billing and collections, including insurance reimbursement.
- Knowledge of HCPC codes, insurance protocols, and ICD-10.
- Familiarity with NYS Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and various third-party payers.
