Location: Albany, NY
Duration: 12+ Months
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Role Summary:
As a Legal Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating consumer grievances related to utility services. Your expertise will be essential in applying relevant laws and regulations to effectively investigate these issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly assess the factual basis of consumer complaints regarding utility services and utilize the appropriate legal frameworks to conduct investigations.
- Provide detailed information and respond to inquiries, analyzing company records and addressing customer complaints both verbally and in writing.
- Guide service providers in obtaining necessary information from customers to enhance case documentation.
- Instruct service providers to perform premise inspections or meter evaluations to verify service adequacy and billing accuracy.
- Compile and document complaint data and assist in the preparation of analytical reports.
- Direct service providers to take necessary actions to resolve disputes effectively.
Essential Qualifications:
- Previous experience or training as a legal secretary, paralegal, or investigator, or experience in dispute resolution is advantageous.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations into customer service and consumer protection complaints.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with analytical abilities, are required to address and resolve consumer disputes.
- Capability to gather pertinent facts from both customers and utility providers, applying relevant laws and regulations to make informed decisions.
- Attention to deadlines is critical to ensure consumer protection.
- A High School Diploma is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in investigating consumer protection or customer service complaints within a legal or quasi-legal environment.
- Familiarity with investigations related to energy, telecommunications, or water services.
- Experience with customer relationship management systems.
- A college degree (Associates or Bachelors) is preferred.
