As a Medical Biller, your primary responsibility will be to manage a range of financial and administrative tasks to ensure the financial health of the organization. You will oversee the billing and collection processes for the medical services rendered to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of various insurance plans.
  • Prepare, submit, and track both electronic and paper claims.
  • Utilize aging reports to maintain up-to-date accounts.
  • Engage with insurance portals and conduct phone inquiries to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Analyze insurance denials to facilitate timely reprocessing of claims.
  • Provide accurate insurance balance information to patients.
  • Process and record credit card payments from patients to ensure proper reconciliation of out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Handle incoming communications from patients and insurance representatives.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
  • Overtime may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service and medical billing.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare with a focus on billing and collections; knowledge of insurance reimbursement processes.
  • Understanding of HCPC codes, insurance guidelines, and ICD-10.
  • Familiarity with NYS Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and third-party payers.
