Role & Responsibilities

Maximus is seeking a Senior Client Support Specialist. This role involves providing telephonic support to the Complaints Unit within the State Department of Health. The specialist will be responsible for evaluating claims of managed care organization (MCO) non-compliance with regulatory, statutory, and departmental program standards. This position entails investigating grievances from plan members, advocates, and providers related to the administration and payment of Medicaid managed care benefits, while gathering necessary information for comprehensive investigations. Additional administrative duties and specific processing tasks may also be assigned. The specialist will operate from the State Department of Health office.

Core Duties:

Engage with clients and direct complaints or inquiries to the appropriate departments, agencies, advocates, or client representatives.

Maintain current knowledge of managed care relevant to supported client programs.

Comply with processing guidelines, protocols, and contract requirements for complaint handling and management of PHI/PII.

Assist consumers with health plan enrollment, disenrollment, and transfers as needed.

Execute assigned tasks as directed by the Complaint Unit Supervisor or Project Management.

Achieve performance standards as outlined in the annual criteria and bonus framework for the role.

Address complex customer service inquiries and issues via telephone, documenting recurring problems for resolution.

Potentially respond to email inquiries.

Prioritize customer service as the primary focus, managing non-routine calls that require deviation from standard procedures.

Handle situations requiring tailored responses or extensive research based on customer needs.

Utilize computerized systems for tracking, information gathering, and troubleshooting.

Manage escalated or unresolved calls from less experienced representatives.

Undertake moderately challenging assignments, exercising judgment in issue resolution and proposing solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required with 1+ years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a call center environment.
- Familiarity with medical billing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
