Position: Medical Biller and Collections

Role Summary:

As a Medical Biller, your primary responsibility will be to manage various financial and administrative tasks that ensure the financial health of the organization. You will oversee the billing and collection processes for the medical services rendered to patients.

This role necessitates effective communication with colleagues to foster a collaborative and efficient workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire knowledge of diverse insurance types.
  • Generate, process, and submit both electronic and paper claims.
  • Utilize aging reports to maintain up-to-date accounts.
  • Engage with insurance portals and conduct phone inquiries to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Analyze insurance denials to facilitate timely reprocessing of claims.
  • Provide accurate insurance balance details to patients.
  • Process and post credit card payments from patients to manage out-of-pocket responsibilities.
  • Handle incoming communications from patients and insurance representatives.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service and medical billing.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated while also being a team player.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare with a focus on billing and collections, particularly in insurance reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of HCPC codes, insurance guidelines, and ICD-10.
  • Understanding of NYS Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and third-party payers.
