Healthcare Customer Service Specialist

APR Consulting, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Patient Services Representative.
Position Overview: This role serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth registration and financial clearance process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and their families, collecting and verifying essential demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information.
- Facilitate the registration process for patients, ensuring accurate entry of information into the patient registration systems.
- Process signed physician orders and maintain an organized work queue.
- Conduct insurance eligibility checks and provide financial education regarding patient accounts.
- Calculate and communicate estimated patient liabilities, collecting payments as necessary.
- Refer cases to financial counseling when appropriate.
- Perform additional duties such as cashiering and managing communications.
- Enhance the patient experience by demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare system and available services.
Continuous Improvement:
- Support the implementation of new programs and initiatives aimed at improving patient access processes.
- Contribute ideas for enhancing operational efficiency within the department.
People Development:
- Be open to learning new skills and processes, actively seeking feedback for performance improvement.
Relationship Management:
- Foster positive relationships with team members and other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Patient Satisfaction:
- Perform necessary tasks to maintain compliance and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Authenticate patient identities throughout all interactions.
- Provide guidance to patients and their families as needed.
- Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies to ensure ethical and professional conduct.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of patient access processes and financial counseling in both acute and non-acute environments.
- Strong time management abilities and proficiency in multiple computer systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
