BroSis provides comprehensive support services to youth aged eight to twenty-two, offering a range of evidence-based programs. These include extensive rites of passage initiatives, daily after school care, counseling services, summer camps, job training, college readiness programs, employment opportunities, community organizing training, and international study programs. Based in Harlem, NY, BroSis also publishes educational materials and trains educators nationwide while advocating for social change. The organization has received national acclaim for its impactful model, supported by numerous prestigious funders.

Position Summary

The Elementary After School Program Coordinator will engage with youth aged 8-12, collaborating with a dedicated team to provide arts enrichment, tutoring, recreational activities, and personalized mentorship. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader in youth programming, possessing experience in designing and implementing culturally relevant and enriching activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and assess activities tailored for elementary school-aged youth.
  • Ensure participant safety through effective supervision of all youth.
  • Oversee the organization and maintenance of program spaces and activity centers.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive environment, regularly updating activities.
  • Exemplify positive behavior and establish clear expectations, holding participants accountable to program values.
  • Encourage self-esteem and reinforce themes of community, knowledge, positivity, and future.
  • Address the unique challenges faced by participants, collaborating with the team to find solutions.
  • Prepare and serve healthy snacks and meals, guiding youth in cleanup efforts.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with youth and their families.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of program materials and event notifications.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding participant progress and needs.
  • Collaborate with community partners and volunteers to enhance program activities.
  • Manage enrollment processes for after school and summer programs, assisting families with registration.
  • Track daily attendance and maintain accurate records.
  • Co-facilitate the annual Summer Day Camp.
  • Commit to a minimum of three years in this role.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; a minimum of three years' experience in youth development programs for ages 8 to 12.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with behavior guidance and restorative justice practices.
  • Creative, resourceful, and a positive role model for youth.
  • Appreciation for diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.

BroSis offers competitive salaries along with a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-funded health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and a 3% employer contribution to a retirement account. Staff enjoy four weeks of vacation, quarterly personal days, and additional paid holidays, totaling approximately 10 weeks of paid time off annually.

To ensure the safety of our youth and community, all staff must be fully vaccinated by their start date, with exemptions considered for medical or religious reasons.

BroSis provides a competitive salary based on relevant experience, with potential for annual performance-based increases. New hires typically start at the beginning of the salary range, depending on qualifications and internal equity.
