POSITION SUMMARY
Global Community Charter School (GCCS) is a progressive educational institution located in Harlem, recognized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Our approach is innovative and inquiry-driven, focusing on cultural competence while delivering a comprehensive curriculum that fosters critical and creative thinking.

The Intervention Specialist will collaborate closely with classroom educators and students within their designated caseload to deliver both direct and indirect support in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. This role is essential for assisting students identified as at-risk, providing tailored interventions in reading and math to help them achieve grade-level proficiency. The Intervention Specialist will design instructional materials, develop lesson plans, conduct small-group sessions, and assess student performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver targeted literacy and math interventions to individual students and small groups using evidence-based strategies.
  • Establish student goals and instructional outcomes based on specific assessments.
  • Utilize assessments to identify reading and math strengths and weaknesses, aligning these with suitable instructional techniques.
  • Design differentiated lesson plans that align with New York State learning standards, integrating knowledge of students, instructional content, and curricular resources.
  • Differentiate instruction as a core component of planning and teaching, applying the Workshop Model in instructional design.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic progress towards learning objectives through detailed data analysis of student performance across various metrics; leverage collected data to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Engage in coaching cycles and implement research-based strategies to enhance both personal performance and student outcomes.
  • Reflect on personal growth as an educator and actively seek professional development resources to improve practice.
  • Manage student behavior and classroom routines to optimize learning time and foster a positive educational environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to identify effective practices for individual and small group instruction.
  • Participate in professional development workshops as outlined in the school’s professional development calendar.
  • Model and promote the International Baccalaureate learner profile to cultivate a cohesive school culture focused on academic and personal success.
  • Support the school’s initiatives as directed by the Coordinator of Special Populations, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Master's degree in education is preferred.
  • New York State teaching certification is preferred or in progress.
  • A minimum of five years of proven success as a full-time elementary classroom educator.
  • Experience in a high-performing urban educational setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching through ongoing learning and data-driven analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
