Job Overview

Position: After-School Assistant

The After-School Assistant plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and secure educational atmosphere for children. This position involves overseeing students during unstructured periods and ensuring their safety and engagement. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director and Social Worker, the Assistant will be tasked with preparing materials and managing after-school activities. The ideal candidate should have a passion for working with children and demonstrate respect and dignity towards all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and facilitate unstructured play during after-school hours.
  • Collect and document observations regarding student behavior.
  • Maintain professional communication about students with both teaching and non-teaching staff, while respecting confidentiality.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that aligns with the school's culture and practices.
  • Conduct all duties with professionalism and integrity.
  • Show dedication to contributing positively to the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication (especially with children), and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiastic, hardworking, reflective, and eager to learn and adapt.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 2:45 PM - 5:45 PM

Compensation:

Hourly wage for this role: $30.00
