Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced After School Instructor to join our team at the Imogen Roche Foundation Inc. as an Elementary Education Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading fun and engaging cooking workshops with groups of elementary school students on weekdays after school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Implement course curriculum and assist with its development to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students.
  • Lesson Planning: Work with teaching assistants to create lesson plans in accordance with course curriculum, ensuring a well-structured and engaging learning environment.
  • Supply Management: Request supplies from the Site Supervisor well in advance of class sessions to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Class Leadership: Lead classes with school-age children, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supervision: Supervise children during transitions and supervise teaching assistants to ensure a high level of support and guidance.
  • Progress Communication: Communicate regularly with the Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Culminating Events: Plan, coordinate, and oversee culminating events at the end of each cycle, celebrating student achievements and milestones.
Requirements
  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Possess subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught, ensuring a high level of credibility and authority.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate patient, kind, and friendly demeanor, building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Leadership Skills: Exhibit strong leadership skills, effectively managing and correcting conduct and performance of adults and children.
  • Organizational Skills: Able to manage and give priority to multiple tasks, exhibiting creativity and innovativeness working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative and Judgment: Use own initiative, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy to make informed decisions and resolve conflicts.
  • Education: Hold a university degree (preferred), demonstrating a high level of academic achievement and expertise.
