Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field is required.
Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or Nursing is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in Perioperative Services within a multi-hospital system of medium to large size is required. Oversight of additional support services in this structure is also required.
Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
This role serves as the chief administrative leader for all Perioperative Services while acting as the Primary Perioperative Leader at a designated site. Collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team to formulate a strategic vision and plan for all Perioperative Services and Surgical sub-service lines, implementing key strategies and initiatives to meet operational, growth, strategic, quality, and safety objectives. Translates strategic initiatives into actionable plans and programs to achieve system-wide and/or hospital-wide goals. Establishes necessary infrastructure to support strategic initiatives and goals while safeguarding and/or expanding market share. This position acts as a knowledgeable change agent representing Perioperative issues at the executive level, driving changes that enhance patient care across the system. In partnership with key stakeholders, this role ensures that the mission, vision, and values are integrated into Perioperative practices and services.
Leads and supports the implementation of service-line strategic plans and program development related to Perioperative Services. This leader will actively collaborate with Anesthesia Groups and Providers regarding coverage at all service points, as well as Medical Staff Leaders on identified initiatives and improvement efforts.
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and expansion of Perioperative Services across the Network. Works closely with Physician Leaders, Departmental Leaders, Medical Staff, and relevant stakeholders to ensure exceptional engagement in identifying risks, problem-solving, planning, and enhancing quality, safety, and efficiency. Develops infrastructure to facilitate effective implementation and communication of all changes. Co-leads Surgical and Procedural Growth Initiatives in partnership with designated Senior Leaders. Acts as the administrative leader of the Perioperative Collaborative in a dyad relationship with Physician Directors. Through this collaboration, the dyad will lead improvements to establish safe and highly reliable surgical care protocols and guidelines, develop a clinical vision for innovation in care, and build a network infrastructure to uphold high standards of quality and safety while implementing network initiatives.
- Through collaboration with key stakeholders, leads and promotes network integration across all Perioperative and Surgical sub-service line Departments. Strengthens and unifies Perioperative divisions. Develops necessary infrastructure to support effective communication and the sharing of best practices. Drives innovation through collaboration with physician leaders, operational leaders, and staff. Identifies opportunities to enhance quality, safety, patient experience, access to quality healthcare across the continuum of care, and the organization’s economic performance. Continuously assesses healthcare-related trends to ensure alignment and timely responses. Develops and leads processes to evaluate new surgical technologies and oversees their systematic execution.
- For all areas of administrative oversight, collaborates with operational VPs and/or Chief Operating Officers and Hospital Administrators to establish annual goals and objectives, including capital, operational, financial, safety, quality, employee engagement, service throughput, cost, and utilization.
Develops and/or oversees the creation of proposals and justifications to secure administrative support and funding. - Maintains collaborative partnerships with key physician leaders, executive nursing and operational leaders, service line administrators, stakeholders, and departmental leaders. Fosters a results-oriented environment characterized by integrity, collaboration, trust, visibility, participation, and appropriate delegation. Works directly with Senior Directors of Perioperative Services and Nursing Directors throughout the network to ensure integrated processes, eliminate waste and redundancy, control supply expenses, and reduce variation in care delivery. Ensures effective communication and alignment of direction, priorities, and efforts with operational leaders while engaging with customers in a service-centric manner, identifying necessary tools to achieve goals. Creates and supports infrastructure to execute the aforementioned initiatives.
- Assists with contract negotiations for supportive services to enhance the overall success of Perioperative Services across the network. Responsible for key initiatives surrounding growth, outreach, and affiliations.
