California Water Service Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Company's procurement initiatives, which include managing supplier risks, overseeing contract compliance, and evaluating supplier performance.

This position collaborates with various business units to facilitate sourcing activities and is accountable for addressing stakeholder inquiries and other procurement-related tasks.

This role is based at the Customer Support Services (Company Headquarters) in San Jose, California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates and manages procurement initiatives such as supplier risk assessment and contract oversight.

Conducts thorough analysis and validation of pricing for long-term agreements.

Executes market research for diverse commodities.

Handles match override approvals and validations.

Establishes and updates vendor profiles in the Procurement/Financial system.

Drafts and implements contract amendments and extensions.

Initiates Requests for Proposals (RFP) and evaluates pricing proposals from potential suppliers.

Engages with suppliers to comprehend service capabilities, negotiate pricing and commercial terms, and resolve any issues.

Collaboratively manages supplier performance with key internal stakeholders.

Works closely with internal teams such as Legal, Engineering, and Operations to ensure contract specifications are accurate and that terms and conditions are duly authorized.

Provides expert advice and assists in procurement training for fellow employees.

Collaborates with the Supplier Diversity Program Manager to onboard and certify new vendors, enhancing the utilization of diverse suppliers.

Assists in identifying, evaluating, and implementing technologies that support procurement practices and process enhancements.

Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations and the Procurement Policy as necessary; aids the Procurement Manager in enforcing these policies.

Participates in meetings and training sessions as directed by the Company.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.

Two to three years of experience in procurement or contract administration is required.

Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are advantageous.

Experience in the utility or construction sectors is beneficial.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Experienced in using an enterprise-wide procurement system.

Possession of a valid California Driver License is necessary.

Salary Range:
$77,100 - $142,800
