About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team at KORE Power. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading a team of mechanical engineers and ensuring the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management:
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
    • Develop and implement effective controls and feedback systems to monitor team operations and ensure alignment with company goals.
    • Identify and promote professional development opportunities for team members, including training and education programs.
    • Set annual goals and objectives with team members, conduct regular check-ins and performance reviews, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
    • Partner with the HR department to recruit, interview, and hire new team members, as well as onboard and train them to ensure a smooth transition.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of personnel-related laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, to ensure compliant management of the team.
    • Monitor work schedules, including vacation time, sick time, and overtime scheduling, to ensure accurate and timely approval of employee timesheets and adherence to internal policy and wage and hour laws.
    • Review and approve team expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Compliance & Quality:
    • Create an environment that prioritizes safety, innovation, and diverse perspectives, and establish department workflows to improve overall efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry standards that impact system design, such as UL 9540 and NFPA855.
    • Create and maintain standard CAD drawing practices to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Project Management:
    • Maintain project management templates for the mechanical team, including manpower loading and project assignments.
    • Assign projects to team members based on loading and skill level, ensuring effective resource allocation and project delivery.
Requirements
  • 9+ years of progressive engineering experience in mechanical engineering design, analysis, and project leadership.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and PDM.
  • Ability to read and interpret 3rd party drawings and documents for completeness.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with engineering calculations to support design work, including structural, thermal, and electrical loads.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems and experience with FEA, Modal analysis, and Fatigue analysis.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving business results.
  • PE license, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulations.
Work Environment
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace while completing complex work in potentially stressful situations with competing priorities within tight timelines and with frequent interruptions.
  • The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting, with extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs, with occasional travel to other KORE locations and for training.
