The OpportunityWe are currently looking for a dedicated Welding Specialist to become a part of our dynamic Design Technical Team.
The ideal candidate will be tasked with the creation and upkeep of precise welding procedure and qualification documentation for our Housing Production Department.
In this role, you will collaborate within a supportive and fast-paced environment, and we seek an enthusiastic individual who takes pride in their craftsmanship.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be expected to:
- Assess and implement official standards and regulations set forth by professional organizations.
- Develop and sustain welding procedures.
- Coordinate welder qualifications and welding procedure documentation.
- Certify new welders on both new and existing procedures.
- Oversee the renewal of welder qualifications.
- Create and evaluate weld maps.
- Select suitable welding procedures for production tasks.
- Enhance the availability, suitability, maintenance, and calibration of welding apparatus, along with the storage and management of materials and welding supplies.
- Influence the procedures and oversight of subcontractors positively.
- Maintain Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) records.
- Identify and keep current with relevant welding standards.
- Conduct welding inspections as necessary.
- Serve as the primary contact for technical welding inquiries from welders and the Fabrication Team Leader.
The successful applicant will find this position both engaging and challenging and should possess:
- A minimum of HNC in Engineering or equivalent practical experience (such as a time-served apprenticeship).
- Experience in an engineering setting.
- Familiarity with quality management systems.
- Relevant welding certifications and proven experience in welding Stainless Steel and its alloys.
- Proficiency in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods including PT, VT, RT, and UT.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and design principles.
- Experience with pressure vessels and relevant codes.
