Job Title: Field Civil Engineer II

Overview: Are you seeking a career that allows you to work outside the traditional office environment? The Agency of Transportation is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team as a Field Civil Engineer.

Position Details: This role is structured as a standard 40-hour workweek, although flexibility is required as it may involve contractor hours, including evenings and weekends, with opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections by observing, verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by contractors.
  • Interpret project plans and specifications accurately.
  • Perform sampling and testing of construction materials.
  • Review and validate project records and documentation.
  • Set up and operate survey equipment, tabulate data, and perform field calculations.

The career progression for this position is clear, starting with proficiency as an inspector, advancing to roles such as office engineer and chief inspector, and ultimately leading to the position of Resident Engineer, responsible for managing daily contract compliance.

Additional Opportunities: For those interested in gaining design experience, rotational positions are available that allow for construction work during the season and design work in the off-season.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or a related technical field, along with two years of engineering experience. Alternatively, an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of engineering experience, including licensure as an Engineer Intern, is acceptable.
