Role Summary

The Clinical Supervisor of 988 Crisis Services will oversee the operational activities of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline during assigned shifts. Under the guidance of the Clinical Manager, this role will be instrumental in the innovative implementation of a clinical contact center, which includes responsibilities such as recruiting and onboarding new personnel, providing clinical training, and assisting in the adoption of new technologies. This position will lead a diverse team across a 24/7 operational schedule, collaborating closely with fellow Clinical Supervisors and Managers.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial clinical knowledge in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and mental health, along with experience in clinical supervision. Key responsibilities include the recruitment, training, and management of staff, ensuring that clients receive appropriate emotional support and referrals to suitable care options.

Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Mental Health Professional as per WAC standards.
  • Preferred independent or associate licensure in counseling or social work.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in crisis intervention preferred.
  • Experience in telephone, chat/text, or crisis hotline services preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and typing abilities.
  • Proficient in using various software platforms and technology systems.
  • Experience in providing both in-person and virtual training preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary clinical team in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in navigating web-based systems and databases for clinical documentation.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision of Crisis Intervention Specialists, Crisis Services Clinicians, and Crisis Specialists.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Ensuring compliance with contracts and maintaining quality assurance in service delivery.
  • Overseeing the assigned shift staff, ensuring adherence to operational best practices.
  • Participating in the recruitment and evaluation of candidates for clinical roles.
  • Providing oversight and coaching to all staff during shifts.
  • Collaborating with the Crisis Connections leadership team to ensure effective integration with other programs.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and formal supervision for assigned staff.
  • Promoting a professional and respectful team environment.
Caller Management
  • Overseeing the handling of 988 contacts, assessing risk factors and ensuring best practices in clinical interventions.
  • Coordinating appropriate referrals and dispatches across the state.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of all interactions by the end of each shift.
Performance Indicators
  • Maintaining a contact abandonment rate of 5% or less.
  • Achieving a contact answer rate of 90% or higher within 20 seconds.
  • Keeping staffing vacancy rates below 5% for the assigned shift.
Training and Professional Development
  • Supporting the Clinical Director and Managers in training new staff with clinical best practices.
  • Maintaining licensure and staying updated on trends in mental health.
  • Completing a minimum of 12 hours of relevant training annually.
Work Habits and Environment
  • Demonstrating punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Participating in supervisory duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining clear and effective communication.
  • Fostering a positive work environment and promoting team collaboration.
Technology Requirements
  • Smartphone capable of supporting Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) applications.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to engage in prolonged periods of sitting or standing, managing multiple IT/software platforms, and participating in discussions surrounding sensitive topics such as mental health and crisis situations.
