Career Opportunity:

The Product Planning & Performance Team at American Express GBT is focused on enhancing the synergy between product development, technology, and business objectives. This position is pivotal in translating strategic goals into actionable delivery plans. The ideal candidate will engage in a hybrid work model, contributing both remotely and in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Planning and Governance: Take ownership of the planning framework, governance, and tools for designated teams, ensuring operational excellence across product and stakeholder teams.
  • Align Projects with Strategic Goals: Guarantee that team initiatives are in harmony with GBT's strategic objectives, facilitating effective decision-making and commitment to project timelines.
  • Facilitate Dependency Mapping and Risk Assessment: Identify inter-team dependencies, manage potential risks, and influence delivery schedules for planning milestones.
  • Provide Comprehensive Portfolio Oversight: Deliver insights into the product portfolio, celebrate achievements, highlight risks, and maintain communication with partners throughout the organization.
  • Drive Product and Feature Delivery: Empower teams to define, plan, and execute high-quality features and products, fostering collaboration with partner functions.
  • Ensure Quality Documentation and Training: Uphold high standards for planning documentation, mentor stakeholders on best practices, and develop effective knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Analyze and Enhance Planning Processes: Review project plans and resource allocations at the end of each development cycle, continuously improving planning methodologies.
  • Oversee Backlog Management and Capacity Planning: Manage the backlog intake process, ensuring timely evaluation of opportunities and facilitating long-term resource planning.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal and external partners, including Product, Tech, Analytics, and Finance teams, to evaluate business impacts and investment requirements.
  • Drive Operational Enhancements: Establish and integrate best practices in product operations, providing visibility into roadmap delivery and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, or a related field. Professional experience in roles such as Product Operations Manager, Business Operations Manager, Program Manager, or Product Manager.
  • Strong expertise in business and financial analysis.
  • Systems Design and Implementation: Proven track record in creating and executing effective planning processes and operational systems.
  • Outcome-Driven Program Development: Ability to define and manage programs that yield measurable results aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Understanding of Development Lifecycles: In-depth knowledge of the product/tech development lifecycle, with experience in Agile or traditional methodologies.
  • Bottleneck Analysis: Capability to analyze challenges, identify bottlenecks, and streamline workflows for enhanced team performance.
  • Effective Communication: Skill in articulating the impacts and benefits of processes and programs to stakeholders, fostering understanding and trust.
  • Communication Material Development: Experience in creating clear and organized materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in utilizing data analysis and visualization tools to inform decisions and influence stakeholders.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Experience in working effectively with Product Managers, Engineers, and other cross-functional team members.
