Role Overview:
The Product Planning & Performance Team at Amex GBT is focused on enhancing the synergy between product, technology, and business strategies, converting strategic goals into actionable delivery plans.

This position is based in Chicago, and the selected candidate will be expected to work in the office on designated days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Governance: Lead the planning framework, governance, and tool implementation for designated teams, ensuring operational excellence across product technology and stakeholder collaborations.
  • Strategic Alignment: Guarantee that team initiatives align with GBT's strategic objectives, facilitating informed decision-making and commitment to project roadmaps.
  • Dependency and Risk Management: Identify inter-team dependencies, manage potential risks, and influence overall project timelines for planning milestones.
  • Portfolio Oversight: Provide comprehensive visibility into the product portfolio, acknowledge achievements, highlight risks, and maintain communication with partners throughout the Product organization.
  • Product Delivery Facilitation: Assist teams in defining, planning, and delivering high-quality features and products, ensuring best practices and collaboration with partner functions.
  • Documentation and Coaching: Uphold high standards for planning documentation, mentor stakeholders on best practices, and develop effective knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Process Improvement: Review planning processes at the end of each development cycle, iterating and enhancing methodologies to identify operational improvements.
  • Capacity Planning: Manage the backlog intake process, ensuring timely evaluation of opportunities and facilitating long-term resource and allocation planning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Product, Tech, Analytics, and Finance teams, to assess business impacts and investment requirements.
  • Operational Best Practices: Define and integrate product operations best practices, providing clear visibility into roadmap delivery and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Proven experience in roles such as Product Operations Manager, Business Operations Manager, Program Manager, or Product Manager.
  • Strong foundation in business and financial analysis.
  • Experience in designing and implementing effective planning processes and operational systems.
  • Ability to develop and manage outcome-driven programs that align with strategic objectives.
  • Deep understanding of product/tech development lifecycles and methodologies.
  • Proficient in analyzing and addressing workflow bottlenecks.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate process impacts to stakeholders.
  • Experience in creating tailored communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to leverage data for informed decision-making.
  • Experience facilitating discussions across cross-functional teams.
