Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permit Services Manager to join our team at the City of Reno. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the issuance of building permits, managing records and plans, and providing exceptional customer service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of permit processing staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on permit processing procedures and regulations.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records and databases, including building plans and permits.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer service and satisfaction.
  • Participate in budget planning and management, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry best practices, making recommendations for improvements and updates.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration or urban planning.
  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience in permit processing, including supervisory experience.
  • Possession of an ICC Permit Technician Certificate or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations and policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
