Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and guide Assistant Mechanical Supervisors and Project Engineers, fostering their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with fellow Mechanical Supervisors to share best practices and enhance training initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with Senior Mechanical Supervisors, focusing on development plans and constructive feedback.
  • Provide essential guidance on site safety protocols.
  • Exemplify leadership qualities that align with Fortis culture and promote positive interactions with clients and subcontractors.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of mechanical trade partners.
  • Facilitate effective problem-solving among mechanical, electrical, and controls subcontractors during project execution.
  • Identify design challenges related to mechanical systems and propose viable solutions.
  • Establish processes for the review and receipt of mechanical submittals when necessary.
  • Ensure incorporation of mechanical changes into field operations.
  • Participate in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) meetings to strategize and resolve routing issues.
  • Ensure that the VDC model accurately reflects actual field installations.
  • Oversee and manage the activities of Mechanical Subcontractors.
  • Track scheduling and procurement for mechanical scopes and equipment.
  • Interface with client technical teams and coordinate Owner Furnished Equipment.
  • Liaise with consultants, mechanical design engineers, inspectors, and relevant personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements from mechanical subcontractors.
  • Prepare Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for high-risk and shutdown activities.
  • Ensure adherence to site-specific safety plans and pre-task plans by mechanical subcontractors.
  • Assist in the integration, start-up, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain a general understanding of electrical, BMS, and EPMS systems.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within mechanical and electrical coordination.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and their applications.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex meetings with diverse stakeholders and ensure follow-up on action items.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.
  • Exceptional listening, communication, and organizational skills.
