Position Overview

The Surveillance Officer II plays a crucial role in monitoring, documenting, and reporting activities related to gaming operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal procedures. This position also supports casino management in resolving disputes involving customers or employees. In the absence of the Surveillance Supervisor, the Surveillance Officer II assumes responsibility for overseeing and coordinating all activities within the Surveillance Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the company’s mission, expectations, and departmental protocols.
  • Receive training in all aspects of surveillance and casino operations, including equipment usage, detection techniques, and departmental procedures.
  • Utilize surveillance equipment and software to identify, document, and report any suspicious or illegal activities.
  • Monitor and document compliance with regulatory and procedural standards.
  • Continuously observe and report on daily casino activities and property operations.
  • Ensure restricted areas are monitored and accessed only by authorized personnel.
  • Complete routine video reviews, reports, and log entries accurately.
  • Monitor cash handling processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Stay informed about current regulations and policies to ensure adherence.
  • Maintain the security of designated areas and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Report any technical issues, suspicious activities, or security risks to management.
  • Conduct special observations as directed by management.
  • Assist with investigations as instructed by the Director of Surveillance or management team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

In the Absence of the Surveillance Supervisor

  • Oversee team members and operations within the Surveillance Department.
  • Supervise Surveillance Agents, manage shift operations, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Provide training to all surveillance staff as necessary.
  • Review surveillance reports for accuracy and verify reported incidents.
  • Coordinate with security and other departments when further investigation is needed.
  • Assist in maintaining surveillance equipment and report repair needs promptly.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; must complete a GED program within six months if currently enrolled.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
  • One (1) year of experience in casino surveillance or a related field is required.
  • Six (6) months of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and report writing, are necessary.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of maturity and self-management abilities.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, with minimal notice.
  • Job duties may change without notice due to the dynamic nature of the position.
  • Willingness to travel for training as required.
  • A valid State Driver's License and an insurable driving record are required.
  • Must obtain and maintain an Occupational License in accordance with the Illinois Gaming Act.
