Position Overview:
The University of Miami is seeking a dedicated and skilled Transplant Organ Coordination Specialist to join our team. This full-time role is essential in managing the allocation and coordination of donated organs to various transplant centers.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary contact for transplant centers, research facilities, hospital staff, and recovery site teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
2. Oversee the operating room staff during local and international organ procurements, adhering to established protocols for organ recovery and preservation.
3. Make timely calls to transplant centers for the placement of kidneys and pancreas, in compliance with UNOS regulations.
4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal standards and requirements surrounding organ donation.
5. Adhere to a call schedule and remain within a designated response area to ensure prompt communication.
6. Familiarize yourself with medical aspects of organ donation and consult with relevant administrators as needed.
7. Accurately document and maintain clinical records of donors and recipients, following UNOS and CMS standards.
8. Manage procurement equipment and supplies responsibly.
9. Keep an updated contact list of essential personnel for efficient communication during the organ recovery process.
10. Regularly inform the Associate Director of Recovery and Allocation about local and imported organ activities.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate's Degree or medical certification required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- CPTC Certification is advantageous or must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Experience:
- 1-3 years of clinical or critical care experience is required.
- Relevant educational and work experience combinations will be considered.
- Experience in a Hospital Operating Room or as a Surgical Technician is preferred.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working collaboratively with diverse professionals.
- Ability to perform effectively in a surgical service environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage confidential information discreetly.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing situations, including working evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
