Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in the development and growth of our Adult Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the research, development, and implementation of transplant policies, protocols, and practice guidelines for the program.
  • Collaborate with the Surgical Director of Heart Transplantation/LVAD and the Medical Director of Transplant Services to establish transplant program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a good outpatient clinical program for LVAD and heart transplant patients.
  • Lead efforts to establish the proper inpatient infrastructure to support the growing LVAD and heart transplant program.
  • Provide physician leadership to the Transplant program's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee.
  • Participate in Monthly Program-specific QAPI committee meetings and attend MTI QAPI Committee meetings.
  • Develop and provide input on the development and maintenance of practice guidelines, policies, and methodologies for medical care of these patients.
  • Promote research activity within the specialty for themselves and other physicians within the University of Miami.
  • Participate in site review by regulatory agencies and insurance companies.
  • Organize, direct, and implement departmental practices to assure continued compliance with applicable laws.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, referral MDs, hospital personnel, and patients/families.
  • Ensure that medical attending physician availability is provided to render care to these patients.
  • Demonstrate consistent, efficient, cost-effective, and quality transplant care at all times.
  • Participate in transplant patient/family satisfaction projects.
Requirements
  • Board certified in Medicine with a completed fellowship in Cardiology and underwent Transplant Fellowship or has held more than 5 years of transplant experience.
  • Member in good standing of the hospital staff.
  • Currently licensed to practice in Florida.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience in Transplantation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to accept and implement change.
  • Ability to problem solve to make effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, administrators, and patients.
  • Ability to show leadership qualities in the past.
