Head of Internal Audit Operations

Job Overview:

The Head of Internal Audit Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the organization’s auditing processes. This position operates under the guidance of the Audit Committee and senior executive leadership. The primary responsibilities include overseeing the Internal Audit department, managing audit initiatives, conducting operational assessments, and performing risk evaluations within the organization’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Management and Execution:
  1. Lead the Internal Audit team in executing a comprehensive audit strategy that aligns with corporate objectives.
  2. Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the Internal Audit department to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  3. Assess the audit landscape, formulate the audit plan, and schedule audits effectively.
  4. Direct the development and execution of Audit Plans, ensuring alignment with organizational risk assessments.
  5. Manage audit projects, employing a risk-based approach to define audit scopes and identify potential risks.
  6. Conduct independent audits focusing on financial compliance and internal controls, ensuring adherence to established regulations.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of financial and operational controls to promote efficiency and mitigate risks.
  8. Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost reductions.
  9. Review departmental records to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  10. Prepare and present findings to senior management and the Audit Committee, highlighting areas for improvement.
  11. Analyze data for evidence of control deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  12. Conduct special investigations as required by management to address specific concerns.
  13. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of audit results, including management responses and corrective actions.
  14. Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and track the outcomes of previous audits.
  15. Develop solutions to enhance financial controls and compliance frameworks.
  16. Coordinate with external auditors to maximize resource efficiency during audits.
Team Leadership and Development:
  1. Oversee the Internal Audit team, ensuring effective coordination and assignment of tasks.
  2. Establish training programs to enhance staff capabilities and knowledge of industry standards.
  3. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  4. Communicate organizational goals and motivate team members to achieve high performance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  1. Act as the primary liaison for audit-related matters with business partners and stakeholders.
  2. Collaborate with business leaders to strengthen governance and risk management practices.
  3. Represent the Internal Audit function in corporate initiatives and committees.
Additional Requirements:
  1. Maintain professional certifications and continuing education requirements.
  2. Adhere to formal business attire standards.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Active CPA or Certified Internal Auditor designation is required.
  3. 10-12 years of relevant experience in auditing or financial controls, preferably in the gaming or hospitality sectors.
  4. Proven experience in managing audit teams and engaging with senior executives.
  5. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical and Work Environment:

The role requires the ability to navigate a dynamic work environment, which may include moderate noise levels. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel and possess the physical stamina to manage the demands of the position.
