  • Monday-Sunday (7:00am - 3:30pm) [Morning]

  • Monday-Sunday (11:00pm - 7:30am) [Overnight]
  • Saturday-Sunday (3:00pm-11:30pm) [Swing/Evening]
  • Saturday-Sunday (11:00pm- 7:30am) [Overnight]

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

STATUS: On-Call/Part-Time, 16 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $22.00/hr

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is a premier organization dedicated to assisting youth who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. Established in 2011, our agency provides trauma-informed, accessible programs aimed at helping young individuals transition from homelessness to stability, enabling them to thrive in their communities. Our comprehensive services include outreach, drop-in support, health and wellness initiatives, case management, educational and employment resources, and housing assistance.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Site Associate will be an integral member of the housing team, working at designated locations to provide essential services to SPY members facing homelessness. This role involves offering support and assistance to residents, many of whom have complex health, functional, and social needs, facilitating their reintegration into the community. The Site Associate will engage with residents to help break the cycle of homelessness, ensure site safety, maintain documentation, and collaborate with various departments to promote a successful onboarding experience for residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for new youth residents, fostering rapport and encouraging participation in available programs.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the facility for residents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Plan and facilitate engagement activities, supporting program initiatives as required.
  • Provide conflict de-escalation and crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Work closely with the case management team to coordinate care and ensure residents receive necessary support for their physical and mental well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records and data tracking in both internal and external databases.
  • Complete and submit required documentation within established timelines.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with local service providers and outreach teams.
  • Utilize harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches in all interactions.
  • Participate in community meetings and collaborative agency discussions as directed.
  • Oversee daily safety checks and support meal preparations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of SPY.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of experience in case management or counseling is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct service experience with high-risk youth is required.
  • Familiarity with social service resources for at-risk youth is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HMIS/CES systems is a plus.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of SPY.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work in varied environments, including office and outdoor settings.
  • Physical demands may include lifting up to 15-20 pounds.
