Position Summary: The Bilingual Community Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting the Clinical and Program Director in the execution of CSCLA's initiatives aimed at Spanish-speaking individuals. This role involves leading support groups for those impacted by cancer and offering brief counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. The Navigator is integral to the overall program, conducting orientation sessions, performing initial assessments, engaging in outreach efforts, connecting participants with resources, and providing assistance to the Child, Teen & Family program. This position embodies CSCLA's mission and values and may require availability during evenings and weekends. Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake interviews and develop tailored support plans in collaboration with the Clinical and Program Director.
  • Facilitate support groups following the Cancer Support Community model.
  • Provide brief counseling sessions for individuals, couples, and families using a brief therapy approach.
  • Lead orientation sessions for new Spanish-speaking participants and assist with their registration process, collaborating with the administrative team to enhance onboarding.
  • Document all patient interactions, including intake and progress notes, attendance records, and contact logs.
  • Maintain accurate monthly records and attendance sheets for support groups.
  • Participate in regular training, supervision meetings, and team discussions relevant to responsibilities and licensure requirements.
  • Coordinate substitute coverage for planned absences and inform the Clinical and Program Director of any unexpected absences.
  • Support recruitment efforts to engage Spanish-speaking members and broaden service outreach.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in creating and distributing promotional materials in Spanish to boost membership and participation.
  • Administer Support Care Plans and conduct follow-up calls with new members in both Spanish and English.
  • Connect participants with various resources, including financial and transportation assistance, and aid in the application process for collaborative resources.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with community organizations and healthcare systems to enhance the local resource database and foster partnerships.
  • Represent the agency at outreach events and collaborative partnerships.

Compensation:

$35-40 per hour

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution is required, with a focus on obtaining licensure in California. Candidates should be trained in CSC philosophy and methodology, applying these skills in group facilitation. Registration with BBS or BOP as an Associate or Psychology Assistant is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Candidates must be pursuing licensure as a psychotherapist (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, etc.) in California. Proof of a master’s degree and malpractice insurance is required.
