Position Summary: The Bilingual Community Navigator plays a vital role in supporting the Clinical and Program Director in the Spanish-speaking initiatives of CSCLA. This role involves facilitating support groups for individuals impacted by cancer and offering brief counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. The Navigator will contribute to the overall CSCLA mission by leading orientation sessions, conducting initial assessments, engaging in program outreach, connecting participants with resources, and providing assistance to the Child, Teen & Family program, among other responsibilities. The position requires representation of CSCLA's mission and values, with potential evening and weekend hours. Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake interviews and develop tailored support plans in collaboration with the Clinical and Program Director.
  • Facilitate support groups adhering to the Cancer Support Community model.
  • Provide brief counseling sessions for individuals, couples, and families using a brief therapy approach.
  • Lead orientation sessions for new Spanish-speaking participants and assist with their registration process.
  • Document all patient interactions, including intake and progress notes, support group attendance, and contact logs.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance sheets, and rosters for support groups.
  • Participate in regular training, supervision meetings, and team discussions as required.
  • Manage substitute coverage for planned absences and communicate any unplanned absences to the Clinical and Program Director.
  • Support Spanish-speaking membership recruitment efforts to broaden service outreach.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in creating and distributing promotional materials in Spanish.
  • Administer Support Care Plans and conduct follow-up calls with new members in both languages.
  • Connect participants with various resources, including financial and transportation assistance.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with community organizations and healthcare systems to enhance resource availability.
  • Represent the agency at outreach events and partnerships.

Compensation:

$35-40 per hour

Qualifications:

A Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution is required, along with progress toward licensure in California. Specific training in CSC philosophy and methodology is necessary for effective group facilitation. BBS or BOP registration as an Associate or Psychology Assistant is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must be actively pursuing licensure as a psychotherapist (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, etc.) in California. Proof of a master's degree and malpractice insurance is required.
